A Poem for Mr. Jun Lozada
63
When I became aware of what
happened to Mr. Lozada after the Senate hearing, I was inspired to
publish this poem which I wrote January 1997.
Not Guilty Your Honor
For quite a long time, I remain in silence
Now it's about time to testify my innocense
They accuse me of a crime I never commit
And destroy my reputation by a deceit
They cover the truth with a lie
And change it's color with a dye
They turn the case inside out
And upside down, there is no doubt
They say they were offended
Or should I say, they were insulted
Is this some sort of a blackmail?
If it is, then they will fail
I know they're only up to something
Ah, up to something greed
They can't bring it with them in death
Yet steal things up to their last breath
They demand me of my loyalty
But loyalty is gained, not asked
They oblige me to pay a debt
But I did not owe them even a cent
The things I got come from my own means
The things I've learned from you are sins.
I have evidence as proof, God is my witness
I can state the truth with confidence
For I had a clean conscience
But to end up this case
let us make a deal
My plea will be "I'm guilty"
If you'll confess "you have no honor"
