Movies & TV Series with Supernatural Beings

I really don’t know why I have this liking for movies and TV series about supernatural beings & mystical powers. Maybe, I just love seeing unusual/extraordinary things and would rather want to believe that there is good power beyond normal.

I love X files, Smallville, Lois & Clark, Charmed, Xmen, Twilight and Ghost Whisperer. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one out here who loves supernatural stuff. I know that these are popular programs/films but for those who have not been able to watch it, it's not too late though.

X files – is a former TV series that later made into a movie. The series is about the government secret files of supernatural things/incidents which the two diligent FBI agents, Mulder & Scully are trying to decipher by evidences and extensive study/investigation to the detriment of their own safety for the sake of transparency to mankind. The two leads are David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

Smallville – is a current TV series about the discovery & struggles of the young Superman. The young Clark Kent is being portrayed by Tom Welling.

Lois & Clark – is a former TV series about Superman being a matured adult who struggles to keep his secret personal identity away from his profession and from his new found love, Lois Lane. Teri Hatcher acted as Lois Lane while Dean Cain played Superman.

Charmed – is a former TV series which lasted from October 1998 to May 2006. It was about these female siblings (Halliwell sisters) each gifted with unique, magical abilities as the strongest and most powerful good witches in the world. The “charmed ones” were Alyssa Milano as Phoebe (who has the power of premonition), Holly Marie Combs as Pipper (who can freeze time) and Shannen Doherty as Prue (who has telekinesis). Rose McGowan as Paige (half-witch, half-white lighter), a long-lost half-sister, later joined after Prue’s death.

The central theme of the show was the sister’s struggle in balancing and keeping their paranormal identities secret and separate from their normal lives which created the tensions and challenges while the exposure of magic resulted in a number of police and FBI investigations throughout the series. Their magical superpowers also continue to develop & evolve during the entire series.

X men – is based on Marvel comics series that was adapted into a TV-anime/movie series about a group of mutants who are trained to use their powers for the benefit of mankind, how they struggle to co-exist and gain acceptance from the society. They were called X men because they are human with extraordinary genes which give them power & abilities lacking in ordinary beings. X men started off with just five members namely Wolverine, Storm, Beasts, Cyclops and Jean Grey (Phoenix). They were founded and guided by a paraplegic telepath named Professor Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X who later recruited other members like Angel, Iceman, Pyro, Marvel Girl, Rogue, Night crawler, Armor, Cannonball, Colossus, Dazzler, Emma Frost, Karma, Mirage, North star, Pixie, Psylocke and Warpath.

They fought against Magneto, a character who can manipulate metals, who’s a long time friend of Professor X but choose to pursue his hatred for all mankind for discriminating mutants. Xmen also fought against William Stryker and his Purifiers, an anti-mutant group who believes that the X men are not human beings but children of the devil and tried to exterminate them several times.

Twilight Saga – is a movie series inspired from a four-book novel written by Stephenie Meyer that tells a story about an immortal love between an ordinary, clumsy teenage girl named Bella and a gorgeous, good-hearted vampire Edward who both beat all odds to be together forever.

Ghost Whisperer – is about a gifted woman who can see & talk to dead people whose souls were trapped by conflicts in their past life. Jennifer Love-Hewitt is the Ghost Whisperer who helps them resolve these conflicts so they can finally see and walk through the light.
